Spiritual Nourishment

Apart from physical nourishment for our bodies, where do we draw our sustenance from? What feeds our souls?

If we want to be like Jesus, we need to find nourishment in the same things that he did.

On one occasion when Jesus was talking with his disciples, he said:

“My nourishment comes from doing the will of God, who sent me, and from finishing his work. You know the saying, ‘Four months between planting and harvest.’ But I say, wake up and look around. The fields are already ripe for harvest” (John 4:34-35, NLT).

Jesus’ soul was fed by seeing people delivered from captivity and heartache! He thrived on helping individuals find forgiveness and healing. He was eager to introduce everyone to his Father.

How high are these things on our list of motivators? Do we ask God each day to use us to bring others to him? Or, are we content to just let “others” worry about that?

“Dear God. Please open our eyes to those around us who are ready to meet you, and help us respond appropriately.”
