What hope can I have for a decent future?

Trust God to deal with your future. No matter what your past has been, God has a plan for your future. God has something he wants you to do. And he has instructions for your life. Part of trusting God is following his instructions.

“‘For I know the plans I have for you,’ says the Lord, ‘plans to give you hope and a future.’” Jeremiah 29:10.

“The Lord is my shepherd, I will lack nothing . . . He leads me in right paths.” Psalm 23.

Jesus told the crowds that listened to him preach: “Everyone who listens to my words and does them is like a wise person who builds a house on a foundation of bedrock. When the rains and winds come and floods strike the house, it does not fall because it is built on the rock.” Matthew 7:24-25.

A term that is often used to describe this way of life is repentance. Repentance means to turn around. I quit doing “my thing” and start doing “God’s thing.” So I do what God tells me in the Bible and obey his instructions. I quit worrying and start trusting.
