How to Balance your Life

After all when Jesus returns I’m going to get a new body right? And no amount of exercise and right eating will keep me alive forever. The only way to live forever is through faith in Jesus, so why worry about my health?

The first fact to keep in mind is that you don’t own your body. You don’t even own yourself, but you are owned by God (1 Corinthians 6:20). You have a certain obligation to God to take good care of the body that God has entrusted to you. Your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit. Your body is ultimately a creation of God. As a work of art created by God it deserves very sensitive and intelligent care.

The second fact to keep in mind is that God calls you to use your body as an instrument of righteousness. That is, you are to use your body for God’s purposes. If you diminish your strength by poor health habits, you are less available to go on God’s missions.

Health is not the most important consideration for a Christian, but it is connected with the very most important considerations: our respect for God as the Creator and our responsibility to serve others with all our strength.

So eat right, exercise, get some sleep, drink a lot of water, and stay away from food, drugs and chemicals that damage the delicate mechanisms in God’s creative masterpiece: your body.
