Carousel

I’ve got a pocket full of tickets
I’m ready for a ride.
Maybe this will kill the sorrow
And the ache deep inside.
The clowns are the preachers,
They take your money at the door,
But if they make you laugh
You’ll have to pay some more.

(Chorus)
I’m riding the carousel to oblivion,
Makin’ real good time to nowhere.
But there’s a part of me that’ll never have any fun,
As long as He’s not here—living in my heart.

I’ve got peanuts in my pockets
Cotton candy in my teeth,
And a bag full of goodies
That I really shouldn’t eat.
But who cares about tomorrow,
I’m just living for today.
And as long as I can laugh I’m ok.

(Chorus)
I’m riding the carousel to oblivion,
Makin’ real good time to nowhere.
But there’s a part of me that’ll never have any fun,
As long as He’s not here—living in my heart.
