Dreading Tax Filing
There are many activities that I detest performing in this life, but filling out my taxes is near the top of the list. I would rather:
- Scrub pots in a dish room for eight straight hours.
- Dig a ditch three feet deep and 30 feet long.
- Walk ten miles in shoes that hurt my feet.
I could go on, but if you’re anything like me, I’m sure you probably get the picture. There are just some things that cause us to wonder why we were so anxious to become an adult in the first place. Taxes do that for me, and I can think of little else that makes me want to crawl into bed and cover my head with the blankets the way that tax preparation does. (Sigh)
Temporary Life
“Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in me. In My Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go to prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also” (John 14:1-3, NKJV).
The place that’s being prepared in these verses sounds pretty amazing, and the fact that there will be no tax forms to fill out when we get there causes me to smile. This life we now live (with all of its aggravating situations) is only temporary!
