True Greatness

Dear God: Sometimes I am torn between pride and humility. It’s natural to want to succeed, to be first, to be somebody. What I often fail to realize is that you have given me all the self-worth and personal satisfaction that I’ll ever need. When you died for me you placed an extremely high price tag on my life. In your eyes I am worth heaven’s richest gift. Help me to remember this today—that I am valuable to you.

Thank you for the gift of humility. I cannot be humble by myself, but you have ways to help me keep things in proper perspective. In your view greatness is achieved through humble service. It comes when we are willing to use our gifts as you direct.

Please open my eyes to what you are saying and doing. Give me a willingness to be great in your eyes.

In Jesus’ name. Amen!
